Hi everyone, today I just wanted to share a little of something that makes me really proud of what I do...recently I have received photos of yarn spun from batts/fiber I have made/dyed!  The yarn is beautiful and I love when I get to see something I've made spun up by someone else!  Here is some yarn spun from a batt I sent to Jennifer after she won my blog contest I had on here a while back!

This was spun up from this batt:

Here is a yarn spun by my friend over at Wishfox Dyeworks from some baby alpaca I dyed:

Hi all..I'm going to share with you today some of the dyeing my friend from Wishfox Dyeworks and I did last week during a huge dyeing extravaganza we had!  We dyed so much and I'm going to include the stuff from my end and her pic as well if she lets me include it...so here goes!

Here's a bunch of random fleece and teeswater locks we dyed..(cormo, icelandic, border, and teeswater)

This is some mulberry silk brick we dyed:

These are a bunch of tops we dyed which are either falkland, bfl, or polwarth...

This is more random fleece, (cormo and cotswold x)

This is some milk protein fiber dyed for this month's Phat Fiber theme which is Ice Cream Social:

Here is the pic of everything dyed from her end...huge magnitude of everything crammed on her staircase!
We had so much fun dying all of this stuff!  We thought this would be a one day event, although it turned out to be more like 5 days of straight dying!  We definitely got a lot accomplished, but boy was it a lot of dying all at once!  =)

Hello all.  So, I have decided to try something a little bit different for my blog now.  In the past I have been simply posting a lot of the updates with my shop which I will continue to do, although I am thinking I would like to include some more about myself as well...

I'm not really sure how to begin so I think I will start with showing you all a piece of my home, or rather, my current fiber studio...

Here is my drum carder...yes this thing is a monster and I was not expecting it to be nearly this big when I ordered this!  My drum carder before this was the Ashford wild drumcarder which was maybe a third of the size of this...

This is how I figure out the colors I use in my batts...I put together an arrangement of colors I want to go together and then just add them as I go..=)

And this finally is my dye studio which actually was awesome for me to acquire at the time because before this I was working in the kitchen where my mom also spends her time doing her crafts and of course not to mention any sort of cooking/eating we might do in there which led to me constantly having to break down and set up my dying station again, which trust me...is a very large pain in the arse.

Anyway, so these are some pics of my fiber area at home...I will try to include some more at a later point, although right now it is in a state of disaster because I'll admit I'm not the most organized person, therefore you guys will have to wait until I get this area a little bit more under control.  =)

Hi, I just did the drawing for my contest, and after my mom did the drawing, the winner is JMO!  =)  I will be contacting you on your site which you left a link for as well, please convo me on Etsy so we can set up your $25 gift certificate!  ;)

So, this is going to be a somewhat long post because I have been slacking lately and have quite a few updates!

Okay, so first, I have been doing lots of work on my dying and here are some of the new things I have been working on:

I also have been working on making a few batts and using different photography strategies:

Finally, I still need to announce the winner of my previous contest...I am going to have my mom draw a name from the five entries out of a bowl today and I will be announcing that winner later tonight and contacting them.  =)

Hello everyone!  I have decided to post the new samples I'm sending over to Phat Fiber for the May Greek Mythology theme.  =)  I chose Artemis as my inspiration, (partly because of the new Hunger Games movie that just came out), and more samples and full sized versions are soon to come in my shop...

Hello all.  I know I don't really post much on here, although I have decided I want to try to post more from now on.  I haven't really posted anything because it feels somewhat odd posting when I know there isn't too many people out there who even know about my blog, therefore it kind of seems like I am writing to myself!  Anyway, I am going to write regardless.  First thing is first, I wanted to share my new shop updates.  I have been working hard on my dying...(until recently it hasn't seemed to be going my way), and now I have finally posted some dye jobs I can feel happy about posting.  =)  Here is some alpaca I dyed and just added:

(I really wish I knew of a better way to display these pictures! =/  Anyway, these are the dye jobs for the alpaca...I have also been dying some other fiber as well such as mulberry silk noil and some nylon shiny firestar like stuff.  I have decided not to sell those though, at least for now so I can use them for making batts with my own dyed material.  Here is a pic though of some of these dyed fibers all together...I took the picture while they were all still drying outside:

The plum and orange stuff is the mulberry silk noil, and the green and bluish purple are the nylon.  I can't believe these actually came out this bright!  I discovered citric acid crystals which definitely helped in this process...  I also made some batts I included in my shop, although I am going to wait until later today to post about those so I can try to keep my posts consistently being updated...so check back later for that..=)

A note to all about Phat Fiber!  I have recently joined phat fiber and therefore will be contributing fiber for some of their monthly themes.  For those of you unaware of what phat fiber is, it is a group created within yahoo, ravelry, etsy, and here on this blog site along with their own online site for folks with fiber cravings!  They put together fiber boxes filled with yarn, fiber, stitch markers, patterns, bags, etc., from all the different contributors which they have available for sale monthly.  They also have one super box giveaway which is a larger version of the sample box with some added goodies.  =)  Anyone can enter this contest by either sending in a postcard entry or for every purchase made from any of the contributors' shops.  Here is the link to their blog:   http://www.phatfiber.blogspot.com/

The theme for this month is April Tea Party!  I chose to use the Alice in Wonderland movie to go along with this theme.  I used an Alice and Mad Hatter pic for inspiration.

Check out one of my fiber samples on this video!

The third sample is from my shop in the "Alice" colorway..=)  Feel free to check out their other continuing videos on their blog site!
I am currently working on a new technique!  I just took a class and learned how to do this a few days ago.  This is fiber covered wire!

This can be used for a variety of projects such as beading, creating baskets, and anything you might want a flexible wire to make!  I can make these on a variety of different wire gauges/thicknesses.  This particular pic is of fiber spun over flower wire, 28 gauge, although there is a plastic coating over this wire so the wire appears thicker.  I have also created some of these on a true 28 gauge copper wire with a variety of different fiber colors.  I plan to post some of these in my shop soon, although am waiting until I come up with a tutorial for how you can cut this wire for your projects and still have the fiber cover the wire for the most part at the ends.  =)
Here is a picture of when I got my first drum carder!  This is the Ashford Wild Carder; I have since purchased another drum carder, the little tom by Fancy Kitty.  This is a nice carder, but it only makes tiny batts!  I also wanted to have something motorized so I didn't have to spend so much time cranking out the batts.  =)  Will be posting something on my new carder soon.

More yarn soon to come!
